You can lower high blood sugar with high fiber foods.
A New England Journal of Medicine study reported that people with type 2 diabetes who ate high fiber foods could significantly lower their blood sugar and insulin levels as much as 10% versus those people who were on a low fiber diet.
Furthermore, some research shows that a diet high in refined carbohydrates more than doubles the chances of developing type 2 diabetes.
Where can you find good sources of fiber?
- apples
- grapes
- cantaloupes
- peaches
- bananas
- sweet potatoes
- green beens
- many other fruits and vegetables
Rcommended fiber intakes:
- Under 50: 25g a day for women
- Under 50: 38g a day for men
- Over 50: 21g a day for women
- Over 50: 30g a day for men
