Easy Ways to Add Fiber to Your Diet
Have whole wheat instead. Whole wheat products are not only high in fiber, but they also make you feel full after a meal.
Eat the skin. When you eat fruits and vegetables, keep the skin. The skin of fruits and vegetables contains extra fiber. To get even more nutrients from your favorite fruits and vegetables, eat them raw.
Have fiber with your breakfast by starting every morning with a healthy serving of fiber to fill you up and energize you for the day. Stock your kitchen cabinets with high fiber breakfast options such as bran cereal and steel-cut oatmeal. In addition, you can add even more fiber to these healthy diet choices by topping them with fruit such as fresh blueberries, raspberries, or sliced bananas.
Eat plenty of beans during your weekly meals. Dry beans and lentils are a great source of soluble fiber. Beans are protein-packed and delicious, and they can be selected as a meat replacement.
Color your menu by adding colorful fruits and vegetables to entrees to increase fiber. In addition, you are also increasing your intake of powerful, disease-fighting antioxidants.
Keep high fiber nutritious snacks handy at all times. Try eating whole-grain pretzels, low-fat air-popped popcorn, washed fruits, cut carrots, dried fruit, or raw nuts.
When you are dining out substitute vegetables or fruit for the fries or chips. Another option would be to replace the croutons on your salad with high fiber raw nuts or dried fruit.
Increase your H2O when you increase your fiber intake. Always try to drink at least 8 glasses of water per day. Wash your fiber down with a refreshing glass of water for a better and healther digestive system. Water like fiber, is an important regulator of the digestive system.
