Tips for depression that are free.
There are several things that you can do to relieve depression that really will not cost you much in money. They are:
1. Regular exercise! Even if only for 30 min at a time, three days a week. As a general rule, a good workout will increase happiness inducing endorphins while also burning the stress hormone cortisol which is associated with depression.
2. Talk it out. Talk to someone you trust such as a close friend or relative. Just do not talk. You should discuss a plan of action to relieve the depression.
3. Eat a healthy diet. By eating a healthy diet, you will be getting all the vitamins and minerals that your body needs. In so doing, you will generally relieve depression. Try eating a few uplifting foods such as oats, turkey, milk, pasta and other carbohydrate-rich foods. In addition, set realistic goals and responsibilities. However, know your limits and set your goals within reason.
4. Prioritize and learn to say no. Avoid unnecessary stress by doing what needs to be done first. Do not to allow others to overload you with their responsibilities, otherwise you will not relieve depression.
5. Make a conscious effort to stop negative thoughts. Try to avoid negative thoughts and do not indulge in pessimism. Otherwise, you will not relieve your depression. Although, not easy to do, it will be life-changing.
6. Take action! You need to make a decision everyday to get up and do something such as cleaning your room or doing something creative. You will find this to action be uplifting and will help break your depression.
7. Turn to nature. Get in touch with nature by going for a walk around the block, etc. This will often eliminate stress and depression.
8. Let others help you. Accept a helping hand or a comforting hug. When depression hits this is the time you need love and affection the most. You might also consider getting a pet. Pets are a great source of love and comfort!
9. Help others. This generally causes one to gain a positive purpose. Volunteer work is both helpful for you, helps to relieve your depression, and your community.
10. Make a change. Try changing your life-style to a healthier one, change your negative attitude towards life, re-arrange furniture, give a touch of paint to a dull room, etc. You will find that these actions alone can go a long way to uplifting your mood and relieving depression.
