Relieve Gout Pain Now

According to the National Institute of Health, there are over 2 million Americans that are suffering from gout.  Although, here are no miracle cures for gout, fast and natural management is within your control.  In fact, the fastest pain relief for gout is probably in your kitchen.

The main relief for gout pain is diet.  In fact, diet has been proven to be the most effective way to control gout.  As a rule, gout typically affects the big toe.  However, gout pain can also affect any of the major joints such as the ankle, knee, wrist, hand, elbow, or foot.  Gout attacks are usually limited to one joint, and is very painful.

Gout is caused by the buildup of uric acid in the joints.  Uric acid is produced naturally when our bodies break down waste products, or purines. As a general rule, uric acid dissolves in the blood and is filtered by our kidneys and excreted in urine.  Those who suffer from gout pain have excessive levels of uric acid, which forms needle-like crystals and then accumulates in joints and tissues.  In turn, these crystals irritate the joints which become tender, inflamed, reddened.

Gout pain attacks develop very quickly, and often occur at night.  Gout can be triggered by:

Crash diets
obesity
Joint injury
Chemotherapy 
Drinking too much alcohol
Eating too much of certain foods
Surgery
Sudden, severe illness
 
If these crystals are go untreated or unmanaged over the course of months and years they will continue to accumulate and grow.  The crystals then can form hard deposits called tophi, which protrude and appear to be lumps or bumps underneath the skin

The American Medical Association advocates to relieve gout pain, your diet should be high in complex carbohydrates, such as whole grains, fruits, and vegetables.   This diet is low in protein and limits animal fats to less than 10% of your daily consumption.  In addition, there are natural choices that you can add to your diet to relieve gout pain such as strawberries, tomatoes, and fruit juices.
